Udupi: Speeding car knocks down electric pole, driver absconds

Udupi, Aug 4: A speeding car knocked down an electric pole, disrupting the power supply in Manipal. The incident occurred just opposite the Manipal police station.

The car was travelling from Manipal towards Udupi city when the accident took place.

The driver is reported to be absconding following the incident.

The electric pole was completely broken due to the impact, and live electric wires fell dangerously onto the ground.

    I see many irresponsible carless drivers in and around Manipal And some are drunk in night I suspect that this is a case of drunken driving Since the drive has run away now one can prove this accident he's drunk! I feel police must regularly check for drunken driving in and around Udupi Manipal to prevent accidents.
