Gwalior, Jul 30: Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is airlifting people stranded in flood-hit areas of Guna, his Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh, as relentless rains continue to batter the Gwalior-Chambal region.

Over 50 people remain stranded, particularly in Kolaras and Badanwara in Guna and Shivpuri districts, as per local reports. The region has witnessed 247 mm rainfall in the last 30 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Scindia said he had spoken with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Air Vice Marshal Vikram Gaur, and Air Commodore Manish Sharma, requesting urgent deployment of rescue aircraft.

"The safety of every citizen is our key responsibility. I am in constant contact with the Defence Ministry, the IAF, the district administration, NDRF, and the MP government," Scindia posted on X.

Late Tuesday, Scindia also released a video statement, assuring that rescue efforts were underway in Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar, and that those affected would be relocated to safer areas with administrative support.

He further urged local BJP leaders and representatives to assist the relief efforts and appealed to residents to stay alert, as heavy rain is expected to continue for the next two days.

Authorities have activated rescue and relief measures, and the situation remains under close monitoring.
