Bantwal, Jul 30: A bike rider sustained serious injuries after a private bus, reportedly speeding beyond limits, collided with his two-wheeler at Chandalike near Vittal.

The private bus, which was en route from Vittal to Bengaluru, was overtaking at high speed when it rammed into a bike approaching from the Puttur side.

The injured rider has been identified as Harsha Bhat, an priest from Peruvai. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Vittal police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

    Private buses and their drivers often drive recklessly—speeding, overtaking dangerously, and showing little concern for smaller vehicles coming from the opposite direction or sharing the same lane. When I once confronted a driver about this hazardous behavior, he arrogantly replied, “If you want to live, move out of the way. I don’t care—nothing will happen to me.” Such a careless attitude not only endangers lives but also reflects a serious lack of accountability that must be addressed.
