Srinagar, Jul 26: In a historic move, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is set to launch the ‘Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025’ in Srinagar today, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at extending proactive legal support to the families of Indian soldiers serving in remote and high-risk regions.
The scheme will be officially unveiled by Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of NALSA and the next Chief Justice of India. The event is expected to be attended by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The scheme’s core message is simple but powerful: "You serve the nation at the border, we will stand by your family at home."
Born out of the emotional aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the initiative reflects Justice Surya Kant’s commitment to ensuring that soldiers are not burdened by unresolved family legal matters while on duty.
Under the scheme, NALSA will actively step in to handle family property disputes, domestic conflicts, land issues, and other legal challenges on behalf of defence personnel and paramilitary forces including the BSF, CRPF, and ITBP.
Often stationed in isolated locations with no access to legal support or leave to attend court hearings, soldiers face tremendous difficulty managing personal legal affairs. The ‘Veer Parivar’ Yojana aims to close this gap by ensuring legal representation for their families across India.
The move has been widely hailed as a crucial step in easing the personal pressures on military personnel, reaffirming the judiciary’s commitment to supporting those who protect the nation.
