Udupi: Manipal police bust illegal sex trade operation; one arrested, another absconding

Udupi, July 17: Acting on a tip-off, the Manipal police raided an apartment in Eshwar Nagar and uncovered an illegal sex trade operation.

The raid was conducted on July 16 at Room No. 103, first floor, Maalsa Emerald Apartments, 20th Cross, Eshwar Nagar, Herga Village.

Authorities found that a woman was being forcibly confined and exploited for unlawful commercial gain. She was rescued from the premises during the operation.

The main accused, Ganesh Ganap Naik (38), a resident of Honnavara taluk, was taken into custody and produced before the jurisdictional court. A second suspect managed to escape and is  currently absconding.

A case has been registered at the Manipal police station.
