The final results were announced on April 22, 2025, bringing joy to his family, friends, and the entire coastal Karnataka region. What makes Shreyans’ success even more commendable is the fact that he cracked the exam in his third attempt, without enrolling in any physical coaching institute.

Born in Murudeshwar, Uttara Kannada district, to Santyag Juje Gomes and Mable Shanthi Gomes, Shreyans completed his early schooling in his hometown before moving to Alva’s College, Moodbidri, for his pre-university education. He later pursued engineering at the prestigious R V College of Engineering, Bengaluru.
His father is a station master in Konkan Railways, while his mother is a homemaker. His younger brother, Shreyith Gomes, is currently studying in Manipal.
It was during his engineering days that Shreyans developed a deep interest in civil services. Motivated by a desire to serve the nation and inspired by the power of administration, he decided to appear for the UPSC exams, a path he chose entirely on his own initiative.
In his first attempt, Shreyans successfully cleared the Preliminary exam but could not get through the Mains. His second attempt ended at the preliminary stage. However, undeterred by these setbacks, he continued his preparation with renewed focus and strategy.
In his third attempt, he cleared all three stages, prelims, mains, and the interview, successfully. Notably, his entire preparation was done online, utilizing digital platforms and self-study. He did not attend any traditional coaching classes, making him a true example of self-driven success in the digital age.
Shreyans is now awaiting official instructions from the government regarding his appointment.
Offering advice to aspirants, Shreyans says, “If you are interested in writing the UPSC exam, just go for it. Do not worry about whether your background is in science, commerce, or arts. No matter where you come from, you can achieve your goal if you are internally motivated and have strong commitment.”
He further emphasized that UPSC is a level playing field, everyone is equal here. What truly matters is consistency, hard work, and the will to never give up.
Offering a practical tip, he added, “Do not overthink about the result. Put in your hard work sincerely and let the result come in its own time. But remember, along with hard work, smart work is equally important.”
His journey stands as a powerful example of perseverance, clarity of goals, and the value of digital learning. Shreyans Gomes’ success story is sure to inspire countless youth from coastal Karnataka and beyond to pursue their dreams with courage, consistency, and confidence.
