Mumbai, May 23: The Maharashtra Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has announced that the admission process for the First Year Junior College (FYJC) will officially resume on May 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM, following an unexpected delay caused by a technical glitch on the official website.
Originally scheduled to commence on May 21, the statewide admission process for Class 11 students was halted after students and parents reported widespread issues while accessing the portal.
In a statement released on Thursday, the department clarified that the issue has now been resolved and assured a seamless experience for applicants moving forward.
Online Registration Deadline: June 3, 2025
The revised schedule allows students to complete their online registration and college preferences until June 3. The first merit list will be published on June 10, 2025, providing clarity for thousands of students eager to begin their junior college journey.

This year marks the first time Maharashtra is conducting the entire FYJC admission process online. However, the move has drawn criticism from the State Junior College Teachers Federation, which raised concerns over internet connectivity in rural regions and the lack of smartphones in tribal belts, making access to the digital platform a significant hurdle for many.
According to government data, the state offers over 20 lakh seats across 9,281 junior colleges under the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. Authorities have urged students and parents to complete the process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
The department has also assured that help centres will be operational across the state to assist students who may face difficulties during the online application process.
With the updated timeline in place, students across Maharashtra now have a clear pathway to secure their place in junior colleges and plan their academic future.
