Karkala, May 15: A woman died during surgery at a private hospital in Karkala while doctors were attempting to remove a lump from her stomach. The incident sparked outrage among the deceased woman's relatives, who gathered in front of the hospital and expressed their anger, prompting police intervention.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Zubeda (54), a native of Sanur.

Zubeda, who had been residing in a rented house near the hospital area, was reportedly suffering from severe abdominal pain. Doctors suspected a lump had formed in her stomach, and she passed away during surgery to remove it.

Following her death, angry relatives and local residents staged a protest in front of the hospital, expressing their dissatisfaction and demanding answers from the hospital authorities.

As the situation escalated, police from the Karkala town station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, maintaining law and order.
