Mangaluru: Passenger pulls train chain over seat dispute, fined

Mangaluru, May 14: A passenger who pulled the emergency chain of a train during a quarrel over a seat was fined Rs 1,500 by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The incident took place on the passenger train that departed from Subrahmanya on Tuesday. With the train being crowded, a dispute broke out between two passengers over a seat near Bantwal. In a fit of anger, one of the passengers pulled the emergency chain, bringing the train to a halt.

Railway officials immediately intervened and gathered information about the incident. Upon reaching Mangaluru Junction, RPF officials identified the person responsible for pulling the chain, conducted an inquiry, and imposed a fine of Rs 1,500, warning him against repeating such actions.
