Udupi: Intoxicated man sets fire to own house, major tragedy averted

Udupi, May 13: A man under the influence of alcohol allegedly set fire to his own house on May 11. Reportedly intoxicated, he created a ruckus and displayed aggressive behaviour, leaving his family members helpless and frightened.

Unable to control the situation, the family sought help from social worker NIthyananda Volakadu. Responding immediately, Volakadu rushed to the spot and informed the fire department about the incident.

The fire brigade arrived promptly and managed to extinguish the flames, successfully preventing a major disaster.

Following the incident, social worker Nithyanand Volakadu calmed the intoxicated man and ensured he was admitted to a de-addiction center for further treatment.
