Udupi: Underworld kingpin Bannanje Raja comes home on emergency parole to attend father’s funeral

Udupi, May 4: Underworld figure Bannanje Raja, who is serving a life sentence in Belagavi prison, was granted emergency parole by the High Court following the demise of his father.

Currently lodged in Belagavi jail, Raja arrived at his family residence in Malpe, Udupi on Sunday May 4, to attend his father's last rites, which are being performed on Sunday, May 4.

The high court has granted parole to Bannanje Raja until May 14. However, several strict conditions have been imposed during this parole period:

He is not permitted to use mobile phones or access the internet.

Except for attending the funeral rituals, he is not allowed to leave his residence.

Bannanje Raja will have to return to Belagavi prison on May 14. He is serving a life sentence and has 23 pending cases still under trial.
