Udupi: MGM Evening College celebrates International Women’s Day

Udupi, Mar 22: MGM Evening College hosted a programme in honour of International Women’s Day on March 12.

Muktha Bai, sub-inspector of coastal security police, was the chief guest. Dr Mallika A Shetty, the coordinator of the women empowerment cell, shared the platform with Muktha Bai.

Muktha Bai delivered an inspiring address on women's empowerment and safety. Her discussion on the significance of the POCSO Act was enlightening, stressing its crucial role in protecting children from sexual abuse. She emphasized the importance of raising awareness about this act to safeguard vulnerable members of society. Furthermore, Muktha Bai elaborated on the 112 helpline, elucidating its function as an emergency response service that ensures swift action during crises. She encouraged the audience to utilize this service for prompt assistance in emergencies. One of the most impactful segments of Muktha Bai’s speech was her sharing of personal experiences as a police officer. Her anecdotes shed light on the challenges and successes encountered by law enforcement officials, providing valuable insights into the realities of police work.

Nisha compered the programme. Vrushali, the secretary of the women empowerment cell, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty, and students attending the celebration. Pavithra introduced the guest of honour to the gathering. Dr Mallika A Shetty presented a memento to the chief guest as a token of appreciation and respect. Nishmitha concluded the programme by delivering the vote of thanks.
