Dubai, Sep 19: The eagerly anticipated season arrived for Canara Catholic Christians at the native and to those scattered around the world, as they gather to commemorate the Monthi Fest, a celebration of the nativity of Holy Mother Mary. Monthi Fest, also known as the Nativity Feast, holds deep spiritual meaning for Canara Catholic Christians and is celebrated on September 8 every year in coastal Karnataka. It marks a time of renewal, gratitude, and celebration of the birth of Holy Mother Mary.

In a heartwarming gathering on September 17 at the residence of Peter Menezes (Nagarmatt) in Dubai, members of the Emirates Barkurians (EB) family came together to celebrate Monthi Fest 2023. The event was a testament to their enduring faith and a beautiful manifestation of unity among the diaspora.

The festivities commenced with a warm welcome by the compere of the day, Kiran Fernandes, setting the tone for an evening filled with spiritual reverence and joyful celebration. The traditional offering of flowers to Mother Mary was a poignant moment, symbolizing gratitude and devotion to the Holy Mother.

Thelma Almeida, the president of the EB family, extended a heartfelt welcome to all family members, emphasizing the significance of coming together as a community to commemorate this special occasion.

The spiritual journey continued with a prayer led by EB members, invoking blessings upon the gathering. Melodious songs filled the air, as Savitha Maria Menezes, Michelle D’Almeida, and Patson D’Almeida graced the event with their soulful voices.

Adding an element of fun and camaraderie, Kiran Fernandes organized engaging spot games that brought smiles and laughter to the faces of all present. Housie-housie, a beloved game of chance, was skillfully conducted by Lesa Andrade and Styrish Lewis, adding a touch of excitement to the festivities.

Peter Menezes, the gracious host, expressed his gratitude and extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all those who supported and contributed to the success of the event. Robinson Martis captured the beautiful moments through his lens, preserving the memories for years to come.
