Bantwal, April 20: Bantwal assembly constituency Congress candidate B Ramanath Rai was accompanied by a massive before he filed his nomination on Thursday, April 20.

People enthusiastically began their rally from Tirumala Venkataramana temple, Bantwal and progressed till the B C Road bus stand. Rai walked in the company of party leaders and filed his nomination at the election office in Mini Vidhana Soudha.

Addressing the party workers on B C Road prior to filing his nomination papers, he said that he is filing the nomination for the ninth time from the party. “I cannot repay the debt of the party workers who have stood by me  all along. I thank all those who took part in the rally and blessed me. I have not done any mistakes during my term and have not hurt anybody. I was defeated last time due to false propaganda. Let us make the Congress party win here once again,” he said.

Legislative council opposition leader B K Hariprasad, former MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Manjeshwar MLA Ashraf, Kerala's well-known advocate Govindan, advocate Ahwani Kumar Rai addressed the party workers.

KPCC member Pius L Rodrigues, Chandraprakash Shetty, B H Khader and Bantwal block Congress president Baby Kunder accompanied Ramanath Rai while filing the nomination papers.

Dakshina Kannada district Congress president Harish Kumar, former MLC Ivan D’ Souza, Puttur Congress candidate Ashok Kumar Rai, district panchayat former president Mamatha Gatti, M S Mohammed, Padmashekar Jain, Mayilappa Salian, Janardhan Chendtimar, Abbas Ali, Rakesh Mally, election campaign publicity committee president Umesh Safalya, advocate Suresh B Navoora, wife of Rai Dhanabhagya Rai, sister Chennaveni M Shetty, unit presidents and others were present. Rai's daughter was present throughout the rally and encouraged the party workers.

Balakrishna Alva Kodaje compered the programme. Panemangalore block Congress president Sudeep Kumar Shetty rendered the vote of thanks.
