Mangaluru: Absconding accused of kidnap, sexual harassment case arrested

Mangaluru, Mar 21: Kavoor police arrested accused who was sentenced in the kidnap and sexual harassment of a girl that occurred in 2008 under the limits of Kavoor police station. The accused was absconding from attending the hearing at court.

Venkatesha Rama Bovi, a native of Sirsi Ilasoor in Uttara Kannada district, is the accused. The fourth additional and sessions court of Mangaluru had sentenced Venkatesha to seven years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 4000 in 2009. He was at Belagavi prison serving his sentence.

Bovi secured interim bail from high court in 2011 January and was released. Later, the high court upheld the verdict given by the lower court and asked his prison sentence to be continued. However, he was absconding for the past four years.
