Puttur: 16-year-old drowns in river at Biliyoor

Puttur, Mar 13: A boy, studying in class 10, died as he got down to have bath in river and drowned accidentally at Biliyoor under Uppinangady police station limits on Sunday March 12.

The deceased is identified as Mohammed Salman (16), son of late Mohammed Tahir and student of class 10 of Mani high school. He had come to his aunt’s house, along with his relative Mohammed Ifrar (16) and got down into river near Biliyoor dam. While Tahir slipped and fell into deep area, Ifrar was saved.

Mohammed Salman’s family is financially poor. His father died a year ago. Mother is sick. His relatives were supporting him and his younger brother for education and food.

Salman prepared himself for the SSLC examination that is going to begin in few days. On Sunday, he had been to tuition and then came to his house in the afternoon. Without having lunch, he rushed to his elder aunt’s house and from there went to younger aunt’s house at Perne and went to Biliyoor dam, where cruel fate snatched his life.
