Udupi, Mar 6: A fire broke out near the ground adjacent to MSRS College of Padavu, near Shirva, resulting in the burning of trees and plants in the area.

Despite the fire initially being small, a group of youths playing cricket on the ground did not take any action to extinguish it, allowing it to spread and cause extensive damage to the surrounding vegetation.

Local authorities, including Shirva police personnel Vivekananda, Sridhar, Jyoti, Bhaskara, and Dharma, along with former Mudarangadi president David D’Souza and local youth Shailesh, made efforts to control the blaze. The fire service teams of UPCL Adani and Udupi fire service also arrived on the scene to bring the fire under control.
