This is close to my heart and hence do not misinterpret. We need a competitive system which is tolerant of failures. We are operating at high numbers, but the intimidation of success and self incarceration of failure is actually a brain thing. There is a fine line between preparing the kid for competition and tipping him/her over the edge under pressure. Even pressure cooker has a pressure valve. At the end of the day, they are your kids. They succeed or fail, they will be your kids and in family, if we are treating people with a success criteria, it means problem is within. So the word we are looking for is not only fail-proof, but also fail-tolerant and the balance desirable between them.

Today as a student is having hard time.Pressure from every sides .Teacher ,parents ,social surroundings.Parents should encourage their children even they are bored or having less marks.Everyone cant be genie.Even students of less marks can choose a line where their talents can show in other sector.Later they can improve themselves in life.Everybody cant be a football star ,or doctor.Agriculture cant be done successfully by a person not knowing it functions.etc.Sad girl suicides because of low marks?Did parents not recognise she was sad?Hope her soul may rest in heaven.Heartfelt sympathy to her family.Students dont give up because they critisize or talk with you.But make up your mind and think you will show them your talents.Suicide is nt the answer. You only make your parents more sorrow who are already burdened with family matters.

Dear Ritaji from Germany, Thank you for speaking my mind. Competition is good, but if it is going to end in death, we have to ask, what is competition for? Competition assumes all as equals until result is out. But is not end of the world. Parents and kids alike need to be enlightened. Competition is not money, it is not honor, it is not prestige. It is a competition that with "all variables rendered constant", what is your self worth. That rendering all variables constant, is the problem...including variable that "you can deliver if and only if you live" in this world. But, competition and life have no connection....competition and material self worth is the only and only connection.

The private colleges in Mangalore are acting like they are great Intellectuals. And pressurize students to get more marks so that College's reputation is good. Marks are useless when it comes to earning or looking for jobs, I know few toppers can't even find a job in abroad . In contrast to that many people who were below averages are earnings very high salaries.

Words of knowledge given by readers in the comments section. But unfortunately none of the youngsters read these things now a days. So we all will come across these kinds of sad news quite often in the future. You will not find students commiting suicides over failure in the exam in developed countries . In fact very few students (mostly asian origin score top scores ). The Ed system there prepares students with plenty of options to lead their life. Not only based on marks. Here in our country, starting from kindergarten, our kids are expected to perform and constantly reminded that,' No marks no life's slogan 24*7. Parents and our system is to blame. We have robbed our children's real happiness from their childhood and youth. So stop lecturing kids ,start changing YOUR views about how to be successful in life. Stop extremely glamorizing students who score only the top marks. Stop glamorizing salaries offered in campus recruitment or later in companies. Make your kids realize that even with moderate marks you can lead a happy and successful life. .

Ridiculous reason to Suicide. People's emotions can be too fragile sometimes. I jad failed in 3 subjectsin my 1st Puc in science, had a 2nd attempt and passed the exam on time! Colleges should reassure students that it's okay to fail, instead of just demotivating them.

Low marks Depression and worries about one's own future used to be there after seeing poor marks in Final year of graduation but these days some students are taking drastic step at young age in high school! It's also known that securing seats for higher education and also a job has become very competitive with standard of education and shaping the students with high caliber of wisdom and knowledge has left low scoring students vulnerable to unknown consequences.

"Race for marks" , parents comparing their children to some bright students, improper guideline from parents and teachers about how to lead the life once come out from education etc. are some of the causes for this type of death. Even the scientist fails many times before they invent something new . example Thomas Edison who invented electric bulb. Failure is the next step to careful success. Parents, please advise your children properly on time to avoid this type of children taking steps to end their life.

My heart goes out to her parents. Did you ever think what happens to your parents after this incident?! They are living dead and will never give a genuine smile to anyone until they die. Young people out there keep a strong roll model in your life and face the world.

Isaac Newton when he was a child, teacher gave a closed envelope to his mother. When asked by Isaac, mother said "They have written, you are genius child and they do not have teachers to teach you, hence, I am going to teach you". She taught him and finally after his university studies, he became one of the most outstanding scientists. After mother's death, he checked for the old books and letters and he found the letter which teacher had given to him. It was written "Your child is a duffer and we cannot teach him, hence, we removed him from school". Reading this, Isaac Newton wrote, "I was a duffer and my mother made me a great scientist". Students commit suicide due to parental fear and insult from others. If you are a parent and wish a bright future for your child, remember that the first criteria for a bright future is that your child needs to be alive.

This is a trend set after 2014, many of young children losing their life even for losing few marks. They all have a fear of their future as the country is in the hand of Dracula so scoring and getting jobs abroad is the only option they feel.....
