2G Scam: Morani Exempted from Appearance Third Time


New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Thursday allowed Cineyug Film's Karim Morani, accused in the 2G spectrum case, exemption for the third time on grounds of ill health but asked him to submit a health report from a government hospital.

CBI special judge O.P. Saini said: "Morani should appear in court on May 18 and submit his medical report from a government hospital to this court."

On May 6, Morani had got exemption for appearance as he was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. He again got exemption May 10 on the same ground.

Meanwhile, Aman Lekhi, counsel for former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura, has moved a second bail application for his client.

The matter is posted for hearing on May 23.

The first chargesheet filed April 2 named former communications minister A. Raja, Behura, Raja's private secretary R.K. Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, Mumbai-based DB Realty director Vinod Goenka, Unitech managing director Sanjay Chandra and three senior officials of the Anil Ambani group for conspiring to sell spectrum waves at rock bottom prices.

The CBI filed the second chargesheet April 25. It named DMK MP Kanimozhi, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa, Kalaignar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar, Karim Morani and Kusegaon Realty director Rajiv Aggarwal.
