Islamabad, May 12 (IANS) Pakistan's federal cabinet has met 70 times in the last three years but has never "exclusively" reviewed its post 9/11 policy on war against terror, a media report said Thursday.

The News International said the cabinet had met around 70 times in the past three years under Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, but it never exclusively looked into the post-9/11 policy on war on terror and the growing incidents of breach of Pakistan's sovereignty.

Opposition parties have described the US raid on Abbottabad to kill Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden May 2 as an attack on the country's sovereignty.

The war on terror did crop up in some cabinet meetings, but it was not for the purpose of reviewing the strategies but in reference to its negative impact on the country's economy, the media report said.

In a meeting, the cabinet did say the drone raids in the mountainous areas bordering Afghanistan are an attack on Pakistan's sovereignty and are counter-productive to the objectives of fight against terrorism, but it never condemned the US for these attacks.

In mid-2009, the cabinet was told that the economic growth rate then was 2.5 percent due to heavy expenses on the war on terrorism and it was a source of concern for the government.

In some cabinet meetings, bomb blasts and suicide bombings in different cities, including Lahore and Karachi were condemned.

On another occasion, Gilani expressed his dissatisfaction over the overall law and order situation in the country and reaffirmed the government's commitment to fight terrorism.
