Indian Held for Stealing Cables to Gamble in Singapore

Singapore, May 12 (PTI) An Indian national has been jailed for seven months by a Singapore court here for stealing cables from a resort to gamble at a casino, a media report said today.

Kakkayan Govindarasan (26) pleaded guilty yesterday to one of two theft charges and told District Judge John Ng that he stole the cables to gamble at the casino.

Kakkayan committed the offence on February 13 with three other Indians. All of them are construction workers.

Anandam Murugesan, 25, Panneer Murugesan, 30, were sentenced to seven months' jail each earlier this year for taking part in the crime along with Kakkayan.

The case of third accomplice Ganesan Lakshmana, 38, is currently at the pre-trial conference stage.
