Bommai pays homage to father of nation on Gandhi Jayanti

Bengaluru, Oct 2: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai paid homage to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, by garlanding his statue in front of Vidhana Soudha-Vikasa Soudha and also garlanded the portrait of Gandhi on his 153rd birth anniversary.

The Chief Minister later participated in the Gandhi Jayanti function organised by the Karnataka Gandhi Memorial Trust and Information Department and also conferred the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Awards.

He later paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 118th birth anniversary by garlanding the statue in front of Vidhana Soudha.

Water Resources Minister Govind M Karjol, Urban Development Minister M T B Nagaraj, Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma and others accompanied the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister later flagged off the vintage car rally from Vidhana Soudha as part of the 68th Wildlife Week and Walkthon to create awareness on protection of wildlife.

Bommai also flagged off the Kittur Rani Chennama Jyothi Yatra organised as part of the Kittur Festival from Ravindra Kalakshetra.

    Mahatma Gandhiji must be bitterly weeping at his heavenly abode looking at the current state of affairs in his beloved country and regretting for gaining independence sacrificing his whole life.....!!!

    Mahthma Gandhi is a great politician who could say " MY life is my message". He was a great politician indeed, Our current politicians must take a leaf from his life and move on. My respect to Gandhi on his birthday. The greatest of all politicians in the world.

    BJP ...Mahatma Gandhi used for swatch’ BHARAT .. other programs and worshipping. Same time BJP .. Admiring .. Nathuram Godse .. Savarkar .. anti Nehru stance .. .. support Gandhi killers .... A psychiatrist. Who analyses such a party may say classic symptoms of Bipolar disorder..

    what double standards? how a party which adores hedi sorry varkar can garland and respect Gandhi? they are both at opposite ends..only for the sake of vote and appeasement of majority people these things are done by blue j pigs...even independence day celebration was a big farce by chaiwala...heart to heart they dont want to hoist tri colour, they dont want to sing jana gana mana and they want India to be declared a Hindu nation...
