Mumbai, Sep 28: Shweta Singh Kirti, sister of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has made fresh claims about her brother’s death, alleging that she recently learnt from a person involved in his post-mortem that a stun gun was used, his leg was broken and his eyes were injured.
In a video message recorded after she attended a meditation retreat in Atlanta, Shweta spoke about the support she received from people who met her and also shared what she described as previously unknown information about the case.
“We got to know recently that the post-mortem person who did post-mortem on bhai told that there was stun gun used (pointing to the neck) and his leg was broken and a lot of force was used on him. His eyes were hurt,” she alleged.
Shweta also spoke about the difficulty of forgiving when a loved one suffers and said she did not want to be consumed by hatred, revenge or resentment.
“I don't want to be consumed by hatred, by revenge, by resentment. I think the purpose of my life is to stand for love, for faith, for goodness and for God. And I will never let my heart be consumed by the negativity I am fighting in the world,” she said.
She urged her followers not to lose faith in God or goodness, saying that she viewed her circumstances as an opportunity to demonstrate strength and faith.
“There is unfairness in the world. OK, I accept that. And maybe good people do have to go through a lot of pain. But pain is your way to transformation,” she said.
Shweta concluded by emphasising love and healing and urged people to stand for goodness rather than allow themselves to be consumed by negativity.
Sharing the video on her social media account, she clarified that her message should not be interpreted as a call to abandon the pursuit of justice.
“Again I am not saying not to fight for justice or for the Right…. What I am saying is do it from the space of love and not revenge,” she said.
The fresh claims have not been independently established in the reports reviewed. They also differ from findings reported in the final post-mortem report in June 2020. India Today reported at the time that the provisional post-mortem report had been signed by three doctors and the final report by five doctors. The final report cited asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of death and said there were no struggle marks or external injury marks on Sushant’s body.
A subsequent report by India Today in July 2020 said the viscera report found no evidence of poison and ruled out foul play, while reiterating that the final post-mortem report had recorded asphyxia due to hanging.
However, a later September 2020 report by India Today said an AIIMS panel reviewing the Cooper Hospital autopsy report had identified certain procedural lapses and had not given a “clean chit” to the five doctors who conducted the autopsy.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. He was 34.
