Kuwait Brahmavar Welfare Association celebrates Monthi Fest

Kuwait, Oct 1: Kuwait Brahmavar Welfare Association (KBWA), along with their families celebrated the feast of Nativity of our Blessed Virgin Mary with piety and devotion on September 23 at Kabd Chalet.

The celebration began with welcome by cultural secretary, Roshan D’souza, followed by singing the Theme song of the association by KBWA members.

The statue of mother Mary and new Crop (Konshi) was brought in procession. All the children with flowers gathered around Mother Mary’s statue to offer her flowers in devotion and this was a sight to behold. The members led the community with their beautiful rendition of hymns ‘Sakkad Sangata Melyan’ and ‘Moriyek Hogolsiya’. Prayer was led by L J D’souza and group members.

Senior committee members presided the celebration by lighting the lamp. A formal welcome speech was delivered by the dynamic and enterprising president of KBWA, Oswald D’souza. L. J. D’souza addressed the gathering and spoke about the significance of Monthi fest and its tradition. Secretary, Smitha Noronha presented brief report of the activities for the past year and donations given to the worthy causes.

Cultural programme was performed by talented children and MC Roshan brilliantly compered the whole event and conducted several spot games to keep everyone entertained.

Gretta D’Souza recited grace before meals. Blessed ‘Novem’ mixed in milk was distributed to all and traditional feast meal was served on banana leaves with variety of vegetables like Alun Dento, Tendli-chana, Beans, Kuvalo Bafat, Moong, Karamb and Vorn. Brahmavargaars signature item ‘Fish curry’ prepared under supervision of Gretta D’Souza at the event venue was the highlight of the lunch and was appreciated by all.

Group members, Melwin Barnes captured beautiful moments of the entire event and Joyal Fernandes covered videography.

Vice president Maxim Suares proposed the vote of thanks, expressing his gratitude to the KBWA members, their families, all sponsors and all those who made an effort into making the event a memorable one.

The celebration was successfully and systematically coordinated along with the support of management committee members. On the whole Monthi fest celebration was liked and appreciated by all present.
