Mangaluru: Toy helicopter inside airport - Needle of suspicion on staff

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 30: At around midnight on Saturday, a suspicious looking object flew into the airport area and got lodged near the old runway there. Many suspect that the airport employees might have been involved in this incident.

The airport has a high compound wall and multi layered security system. The area is off limits for video, photography and flying. Although there are houses and apartment complexes near the old airport, such toy objects may not be able to cover such long distances to reach where the toy helicopter fell.

The CISF officials admit that this is not a normal toy but is powered by improved technology. Therefore, many believe that someone would have flown the object from inside the airport. More than the object itself, this incident is being projected as a challenge posed to the security system at the airport.

As the place where the toy was found does not have proper lighting the police have asked the authorities to arrange for proper lighting and CCTV cameras around the entire airport area. This will enable the concerned to detect if some object flies into the airport area. They also want a better beat system at the airport, sources said.

Security laxity. There are no CCTV around the compound wall.
Such improvised toy helicopters can carry some small bombs and inflict heavy material damage and casualty too.
This is a lesson to learn..
