Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 22: In a filmy incident which happened near Hosur on national highway in the wee hours of Wednesday October 21, robbers stopped a container truck moving towards Mumbai from Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, and looted mobile phones worth about Rs 15 crore.

Mobile phones manufactured by MI mobiles at its manufacturing unit at Sriperumbudur were being transported to Mumbai. The robbery happened near Melumalai forest area near Hosur near here. At around 2 am on Wednesday, a gang blocked the lorry in a deserted area in the forest region. The robbers beat up the lorry driver Arun, and his assistant Kumar, dragged them away into the forest and tied them up to trees. They then drove the lorry about ten kilometres ahead, set up a placard indicating that the lorry had developed problems. Then the other lorry was brought there and the mobile phones were transferred to the other truck. About 14,500 mobile phones were there in the truck, as per an estimate. The robbers decamped with these phones.

A person passing by the road heard people shouting from top of their voices from inside the forest, and went looking. He then contacted the police. The police arrived on the spot and undertook investigation.

The lorry deserted by the robbers was taken into custody by the police. They are now searching for the robbers.

This is the right time for police to take frequent rounds in every locality and area if there is a case or not and keep a track on everything. They should enter every lane of the city and village Because of this people will get scared to do anything as there will be police on rounds. Also, this will help the police to reach the spot as early as possible. We need changed India not same India. Every Police station should have 2 or 3 vehicles. Police should keep a watch on every illegal activity. Looking forward for a safe India.

Roshan Rodrigues Mangalore, what else?Naturally sell.Instead of sending with lorry at midnight ,they could have sent through cargo flight fast or send during day with other vehicles accompanying.Robbers must have got wind from fracht through insiders.Otherwise how they could know ?Is it from drivers who might get some percent?Thorough investigation is the need of the hour.Firm will get the loss from insurance.

What do the robbers plan to do with the stolen mobiles ? Chutney, or Sambhaar ??

Each phone has a serial number and as soon as it's incorporated a sim and activated, the police will know it from the telecommunication companies. Any shop selling them will have to provide details about from who they got it.

    Beware !

There are tens of ways to change IMEI and MAC addresses of any device, it's easier than it sounds. Do you think the robbers doesn't know this? Any small mobile repair shop next to your house can do this.
