Mysuru, Sep 12: In a shocking case from the cultural city of Mysuru, a woman allegedly killed her husband by poisoning him and attempted to pass it off as a tiger attack in order to claim Rs 15 lac compensation from the government.

The incident took place in Chikkahajjuru village of Hunsur taluk, where the woman spun a false story that her husband had been dragged away and killed by a tiger, similar to cases where families of victims of wild animal attacks receive compensation.

Hunsur rural police have arrested Sullapuri (40) in connection with the murder of her husband Venkataswamy, a resident of Kadampura in Malavalli taluk.

According to police, Sullapuri hatched the plot to eliminate her husband and staged it as a tiger attack to fraudulently avail the compensation amount sanctioned by the government for victims of wild animal attacks.
