Kundapur, Oct 17: “Vandse gram panchayat which only has seven members is identified on the national level as a model gram panchayat by the implementation of SLRM. It had become a shelter for rural women by women’s empowerment, creation of jobs and starting a tailoring training centre for women to become self-reliant. Shifting of the centre by those who could not bear it is a black day in history. We will question the move in the court. We trust the judiciary. We will provide justice to women through the court,” said former MLA K Gopala Poojary.

He addressed a protest meeting in front of the Mookambika auditorium of Alooru cross, Chittur by Karnataka state tailors association Vandse zonal committee, Kundapur taluk panchayat raj union and other organizations condemning the shifting of the occupation training centre for self-reliance within Vandse gram panchayat limits illegally after breaking the lock.

“The system that should be promoting the creation of jobs is trying to curtail them. The centre is shifted to a weak structure that is about to collapse. Lack of concern for women during the scare of the pandemic is condemnable. Why is the building not constructed though there are land and funds available for the country office,” he questioned.

Panchayat raj union president Udayakumar Shetty gave an introduction. Karnataka state tailor association Vandse zonal committee president Chandra Rayappanadi, secretary Nagendra Acharya, Udupi district farmer’s association spokesperson Vikas Hegde, secretary Santhosh Shetty Baladi, Trasi zone president Sharath Shetty Balikere, Kavradi zonal president Sharath Chandra Shetty, Gulvadi, Siddapur zonal president Sadashiva Shetty Shankernarayana, Panchaganga farmer’s cooperative association president Santhosh Shetty Haklady, Vandse block Congress president Pradeep Shetty Gudibettu, taluk panchayat member Vasudeva Pai, Siddapur, veteran leader Sampigedi Sanjiva Shetty, ladies Congress president Manjula Devadiga and others were present. Taluk panchayat member Udaya G Poojary welcomed the gathering.
