Sullia, Jul 20: A case has been registered at the Sullia police station against the in-laws of a woman who was allegedly murdered following domestic harassment and disputes.

The deceased has been identified as Fathimath Nishana, who was married four years ago. The police complaint was filed by her mother Zubaida (43), a resident of Kedambadi in Puttur. The accused have been identified as Fathimath's father-in-law Alavi, mother-in-law Ayisha, and sister-in-law Faseela.

According to the complaint, on the night of Saturday, July 18, Fathimath called her mother and confided that she was being subjected to severe physical and mental harassment by her father-in-law, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. While the mother and daughter were conversing on the phone, Alavi allegedly snatched the device and openly threatened to kill Fathimath.

A worried Zubaida immediately rushed towards her daughter's house, only to receive the tragic news that Fathimath had passed away. In her formal complaint, the grieving mother accused Alavi, Ayisha, and Faseela of murdering her daughter over ongoing family disputes.

Following the complaint, the Sullia police registered a case under Crime No 100/2026 and sections 85 and 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
