Mangaluru, Aug 28: A surfing school is planned at Sasihithlu as part of the tourism department's initiative to boost tourism in coastal belt. In addition to surfing school, other supplementary facilities will also be provided there at a total project cost of ten crore rupees In anticipation of the government permission, the public works department, which will execute the project, is waiting for government permission to float the tender.

The project will be under the supervision of the tourism department. Sanction was given for the project with the joint participation of PWD, ports and inland water transport departments. PWD Mangaluru division will set up surfing school at a cost of Rs 1.45 crore, Paragola and walking track costing Rs 1.57 crore, kiosks costing one crore rupees, road, drain, and footpath development costing Rs 1.65 crore.

Coastal regulatory zone rules permission was also on the way when the project like the other projects, was stalled because of coronavirus. Sasihithlu, which has been identified as a beautiful beach, is expected to emerge as a good surfing location at the international level. National surfing festival had been successfully held at Sasihithlu for two days in 2017.
