Udupi: Banker from Kota commits suicide in Bengaluru

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 7: Vasudeva Maiya, native of Manuru, Kota, in the taluk, who was the former chief executive officer of Sri Raghavendra Cooperative Bank, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, ended his life on the evening of Monday July 6. His body was found inside his car found parked near Arehalli Gate, Poornaprajna Layout within Subrahmanyapura police station a little distance away from his residence.

The police suspect that Maiya would have ended his life by consuming liquor laced with poison. Maiya had been facing the allegation of embezzling bank funds to the tune of Rs 1,400 crore. The police were investigating the way the funds were siphoned off, when Maiya decided to end his life. The police are trying to find out whether he has left behind any suicide note.

Anti-Corruption Bureau had raided the bank on the basis of complaints of misappropriation of funds. Reserve Bank of India had taken over the said bank during January. Initially it had restricted the amount of withdrawal per customer to Rs 35,000 which was hiked to one lac rupees.

In the meanwhile, with the death of Maiya, questions have arisen about the current whereabouts of the president of the bank, Ramakrishna. It is said that he would have gone underground as the investigation also is covering his role in the scandal.

Looks like he was made scape goat. Real culprit would be someone else. Everyone are selfish, people invest there so that they get good returns. When business n market is booming noone will know, once market collapses everyone takes a hit.

The money milked by unknown hands by using their offices or misusing law of land.
Justice delayed is justice denied. In India justice coming in time has become a rarity. Placing trust in justice i an injustice now. Law makers using the terminology 'Law of the land shall prevail" is a signal that do not expect much to happen in near future!!!

While many banks officers have involved in malpractices by giving away loans for a cut, they also have made many genuine borrowers, as defaulters because of their recovery policies. There are people who have genuinely not been able to pay and such people should be allowed to set right their credit scores.

    Yes sir,
In this world every politician hates truth. Law written on paper can act only if there is no strong objection. People who loot the country always have politicians strong blessings. This is not only in our country even in dictatorship. Any opposition those will be laid to rest without any ones knowledge.
This is the bitter truth Mr. Vaz.

The Local MP Tejaswi Surya had promised that the money of the depositors is safe when RBI clamped on this bank 6 months back. He had also said that his family has deposits.

So if the bank is safe , money is safe then why suicide. Maybe he is COVID -19 ?. or the MP was just bluffing
