Daijiworld Media Network - Davanagere (SP)

Davanagere, Jul 2: Close on the heels of a report from Ballari where mortal remains of COVID patients which were disposed of together in a pit comes the report that dishonourable disposal of bodies also have happened in Davanagere and Yadagiri districts. It is learnt that similar incidents have recurred in Channagiri (Davanagere district) and Honagera village in Yadagiri district.

A 56-year-old lady from Kumbarabeedi in Channagiri town had died of coronavirus infection. Her body was carried away with the help of a backhoe and tossed into a pit. A video of this scene has become viral.

The 56-year-old lady was admitted into McGann hospital Shivamogga on June 17 due to respiratory problems. She had died there, after which her test result confirmed that she was infected by coronavirus. Her body was taken in a JCB. It is said that senior officials in the district administration and the police department were present when this happened.

Yadagiri

In the other incident which happened in Honagera village of Yadagiri district, a 45-year-old person, who had suffered severe breathing problems when taking part in his daughter's marriage at Sirwar in Raichur district on Sunday, was being taken to Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences when his end came. His throat swab sample was tested and the result was positive. When burying, the body in the land belonging to the deceased's brother, two persons wearing PPE kits, tied the bag containing the mortal remains to a wooden beam and dragged it away before tossing it into the pit.

The chief minister has already said that six persons have been suspended relating to the Ballari incident. Davanagere deputy commissioner, Mahantesh Beelagi, said that all funerals in the district were conducted as per the COVID rules and government guidelines. He said that if there are any lapses, the concerned would be moved against.

People should be made aware that a deadbody if bathed in disinfectant won't be spreading virus. The living non-symptomatic carriers of the corona virus are most dangerous.

AD mangalore, here was not the question of disinfection of mortal remains, but how one gives respect to a dead body. However virus doesnt survive when no oxygen is available I am sure.Of course people who bury the victims body too are at present are too much tired of doing this. But please do not carry as you carry a cadaver of an animal.Tomorrow you too will get the same treatment.

Everybody is worried, scared about the virus, it is better to train some youngsters in each & every village, wards about how to handle Corona virus, how to take care of such patients, How to take care of bodies etc...
Always blaming authorities & hospital workers is not correct. They are doing their best from past 4 months. They are also worried about themselves & their families.
Each & every family, there should be a trained Corona Warrior. That is the only solution.
People now have realised how important is the government hospitals are. Only the government hospitals are taking care of Corona Patients, no other hospitals are coming forward to treat the patients.
We want government to build, improve more & more government hospitals, better payscale, benefits for the government health workers.

    @ Muneer,
"Better we could have born has a cow"
Even then humans would not have been safe. Always living with fear who would kidnap me and who would butcher me for consumption.
Humans are Gods chosen people and let us live by praising the one who has created us. Living is hope and may be full of struggle but life has a better meaning too. Forget about Cow politics.

A COVID positive dead body left outside 100 bed hospital at Hospete #ballari #Karnataka. Hospital authorities claim it was left outside just for a while as it was raining. Locals who did this video question the carelessness of the authorities.

I agree that it is not human to treat mortal remains like this.

But it is a fact that it is difficult to find people to handle mortal remains as people are scared.

Even close relatives of the deceased are refraining from doing their last rites and civic workers are being used for the same.

The Karnataka BJP government under CM Yedurappa and Health Minister B Sriramalu has done worst the Latin American country Ecuador has done with Covid-19 victims.

In Ecuador it is abrupt poverty has led the families to left behind the left one where they can. But in PM Modi's India the departed souls are tossed in to single burial chamber like dead animals.

    1. It is not the same BJP government, has invited prosecuted Hindus from neighboring countries and promised Hindu Rashtra?
    2. Is this the treatment will be given to our own nationals how about those who have taken the refugee?
    3. Where is the so called 'social organisation' that promise India to prepare his organisation for any war in three days? Will RSS is going to give same rites with the martyr of India?

This BJP government from Deputy Chief Minister, Health Minister and Mysore MP has said they prepared for the worst. The death numbers are just in hundreds the discrimination has been with dead soul has not come to rest.

I request Congress, JD(S),Communist and like minded people to come forward and protest this in human treatment.
The Health Minister and District Commissioner on moral ground should resign from the post.

Life and death has no effects on animals... they lack emotions nor do they have any sensibilities !!! Today humans have descended into the pit of absolute moral decay !!!! A dead human, afflicted with Covid19 virus, is compared to a worm !! Families do not come forward to claim their dead. How do strangers treat the outcasts bodies ?? they promptly toss the remains, into the deepest unmarked pit, with disgust and revulsion !!!!!

Dead is dead and gone. The living people should be more careful about their own safety while burying the dead than looking into the comfort of the dead bodies.

I think you will be happy if treated like this during cremation or burial. Please respect the dead also . There will be someone who will be close to you also.

When Govt has made all the SOP for proper funeral why the disdain like this. Use proper PPE and carry out the funeral. Even animals are not thrown but properly buried with respect. Like it happened at Pilikula or in the case of the Wild Bison

So somebody doing last rites even with the help of machines, that would be great. For doing this job, difficult to find human resources..

Shanker : Your assumption of dangerously disease means even doctors should not treat them as they will also get infected. Are medical professionals are fools to treat the patients?. People like you will make this disease worse mentally and not physically. Why not an immunity booster for you!

@francis- person can expect all respect after his death only if dies without any serious diseases. Yes doctor job is very difficult.. because many doctors may think different now for selecting doctors carrier.. after paying so much donations, hard work they get corona too..
