Kundapur: Kota assistant sub-inspector who was serious succumbs to brain haemorrhage

Kundapur, Jun 2: Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Kota police station, Anand Venkat Devadiga who suffered a severe brain haemorrhage on Monday, June 1 and was admitted to hospital, succumbed to the illness on Tuesday, June 2.

ASI Anand Venkat Devadiga (60), suffered a severe brain haemorrhage and collapsed on his retirement day at the time of farewell lunch arranged by the police personnel and staff of Kota police station. He was rushed to the primary health centre of the locality and later shifted to Manipal Hospital and was said to be in a critical condition.

The doctors said that he had a blood clot in his brain and was kept in the ICU. The efforts to revive the ASI went in vain and he breathed his last on Tuesday, sources confirmed.

He is survived by wife and two children.

He hailed from Byndoor and had served in Moodbidri, Kota, Shankernarayana, Gangolli and Kaup police stations. He was serving in Kota police station after getting promoted on retirement.

His body was brought to Kota police station on Tuesday evening. Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Brahmavar police circle inspector Ananthapadmanabha, inspector Rajashekar and staff paid their last respects to the soul of the departed police officer.
