Dubai: Second special flight to Mangaluru on May 18, expatriates in other gulf nations still await

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, May 15: The second special flight from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport is scheduled on Monday, May 18. Air India Express B737-800NG aircraft with maximum 177/180 capacity will take off from terminal 2 of Dubai airport at 13.30 pm UAE time and arrive in Mangaluru at 18.30 pm local time.

Following the chaos during the arrival of the first special flight, enough precautions have been taken by the district administration for the smooth passage of passengers from Dubai especially pregnant women, children, senior citizens and passengers with special or emergency needs. After the video of two pregnant women sharing their painful experience with Daijiworld TV live show went viral, Mangaluru airport received a massive backlash from Mangalureans all over the world. Airport director V V Rao then had assured his full attention to the next flights to Mangaluru and also assured that such incidents will not be repeated. Daijiworld has reliably learnt that, Mangaluru deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh during a video conference on Thursday with all concerned officials instructed that no inconvenience should be caused to passengers especially the needy. The airport director, police commissioner and other top officials are expected to be present at the airport during the arrival, it is learnt.

No confirmation on flights from other gulf countries has led to a huge disappointment for people of coastal region in the Middle East who want to return to their home. Earlier, Air India Express announced special flights from Muscat and Doha to Mangaluru via Bengaluru. But as per latest schedule received by Daijiworld, Muscat and Doha flights will fly only up to Bengaluru and no Mangaluru passengers have been allowed to book the tickets.

Daijiworld tried to contact top officials to get clarity on the issue, but it is learnt that embassies in Doha and Muscat have not requested flights for Mangaluru.

It is opined by many from the two countries that now it is time to put pressure on their respective embassies to get direct flight to Mangaluru. If not so, at least they should allow booking to Bengaluru and a special bus should be allowed to ferry the passengers from Bengaluru to Mangaluru.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Dr Arathi Krishna, former NRI cell head, who is in touch with the embassies in the gulf through her personal capacity, has assured that, she will put her best efforts in getting permission to ply buses from Bengaluru to Mangaluru.

However, there are no updates on flights from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to Mangaluru yet. Dr Arathi Krishna has assured that next week there is a possibility of flight from Saudi Arabia.

Daijiworld is constantly in touch with Air India Express, the district administration and Dr Arathi Krishna in India, and also with Praveen Shetty who took the initiative to arrange the flight from Dubai.

Hello all those who say stay in gulf itself . We all were born in country called India and we are indians holding Indian passport and are called non resident Indians. And have to come back to our country India. A country is made of people not just the land . And if you are saying Indians to stay out of India then you are true antinationals.

People unnecessarily venting their frustration that passengers on these 'premium' 'fully over-priced' 'evacuation' flights are rich NRIs and should not be returning to India. Well, here's some news for you - the well to do and rich NRIs are not leaving the Gulf and are satisfied where they are at the moment. The people on the these evacuation flights are mostly low income workers who have lost their jobs, pregnant women and children, Indians who came on visit visas searching for employment and a family of an infamous CFO of an Abu Dhabi based medical conglomerate.

So don't worry the rich NRIs are staying put in the Gulf unaffected by your comments.

I've seen people commenting here without any concern for their fellow indians abroad. They too are Indians working abroad not citizens of the middle east. If they lose their jobs how do you expect them to stay there. Every one is fighting the corona virus pandemic it's not only you... Don't be selfish at these times don't put yourself first. The lady who asked for help with her luggage was a seven months old pregnant lady. Just think of her as your own sister or wife would you not be concerned? This is the time to be united to help humanity as one. You see citizens of other countries like Canada and united States would not even dare to comment against their citizens returning home . Why then we indians have this mentality. We should be one no matter what ever the consequences we should face it together.
    Jai Hind... Jai Karnataka....

Kindly stop this nonsense of flights to gulf
We in India have our own problems and have to manage life with corona.managing this pandemic is so difficult
Why take risk of bringing these people and waste all our efforts in controlling the disease
These people managed very well abroad during other times
Now what’s the big deal to come here
    Please stay where you are
Indian government please request the concerned governments to take care and not to transport people at this juncture

Prem, Over 3,000 Indian expatriates from six Gulf countries, including the UAE, have registered a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in India asking the central government there to increase the number of repatriation flights for stranded Indians in the wake of a pandemic situation. You will soon see a flood of expats heading back to india their home country.

It would have been better if government of India thru the embassy in the respective countries should have arranged the stay in the place where they are working instead of coming back to India. First flight has landed in Mangalore and the figures of positive cases are started in Dakishna Kannada and Udipi districts.

Government is only scheduling flights to Dubai!!!???? What about Kannadigas, Udupi, and all from KARNATAKA living in Bahrain, Kuwait, Muscat, Qatar and Saudi Arabia??????? Why didn't they can't schedule more flights or allow other private carriers of INDIA to schedule more flights???? If they wish they can take 5000 to 8,000 people out of gulf everyday!!!!! They doesn't bother people's difficulties in Gulf and only require Foreign Currency... don't u feel so???

What is the use?. Once they land at Mangaluru airport, they start complaining

No one asked them water at airport
No one welcomed them with flower
    No red carpet
    No porter facility
No one offered them food once landed
    Bus driver not driving properly
Why KSRTC bus why not Volvo AC bus
    Why not home quarantine
Why small hotels for quarantine, why not star hotels
Why do we have to pay for quarantine facility
Why saambar rice, why not buffet
Why can't we have home food
Because of us India earns so much foreign exchange
We buy big flats, we buy posh cars

We don’t need your observation or advice and to all the people
Mangalore, we are also Indian citizens who want to return .
We to pay our taxes (direct and indirect)So please bare that
In mind . No one is doing favours here . All the flights tickets
And quarantine is been paid by the traveler .

When we pay for it ,we have rite to ask for good facility.
If it was given for free then we understand this question raised
By our fellow NRI would be wrong . And also please note
The tickets and quarantine charged are premium not the
    Regular price .

Hello Anonymous! People who are heading back from Gulf are not under anyone's mercy! They pay double the fare for one way and then traditionally for hotel stay as per the tariff. What kind of adjustment are you talking about? Would it be okay to you that you pay for a cow and get a cat in return?

    Dear
Yesturday i saw a video, people complaining no one was there to lift lugguage.

If you cant lift your own lugguage dnt bring it...

Bring lugguage as much as possible to carry...

More over u can ask co passenger help instead of complaining

Also tell u one thing, in gulf country they follow each and every instruction even if tough, after coming to india starting complaing govt.

In dxb airport u barely see helper to lift ur lugguage on departure, same lugguage they cant carry in mangalore after arrival

    Strange

And about the luggage people are back for good not on vacation.
People who have lost the jobs , don’t expect them to get goodies for relatives
Or friends . And also they have to survive 14 days aways from there home

Please have little respect for people who are in distress who want to come home
From abroad or from any anywhere in India.

All they need is your prayers and support not negative comments or hatred.
