Lockdown day 48: No addition to corona tally in Dakshina Kannada, one discharged; no cases in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 11: No new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Monday, May 11. One patient was discharged in Dakshina Kannada.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 40,574 people have been screened so far, including 48 on Monday. As many as 20 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility and 12 were sent for home quarantine. Another 24 people are currently quarantined in ESI hospital while 24 were sent for home quarantine.

As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.

A total of 4,398 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 4,270 tested negative, 31 positive, and 14 are currently active. As many as 14 persons have recovered and been discharged, and three deaths have occurred so far.

Out of the 31 positive cases, 25 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.

Condition of 13 patients out of 14 active ones in Wenlock hospital is stable, while two of them - an 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar, and 58-year-old woman from Boloor, is serious.

As many as 68 samples were sent for testing on Monday. Reports of 124 samples were received on Monday, all of which were negative.

Reports of 128 samples are awaited. As many as 13 persons have been admitted for observation.

A total of 2,949 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Monday, seven cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.

In Udupi district, a total of 2,842 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 72 on Monday, and a total of 3,552 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 52 on Monday. As many as 670 persons are currently in home quarantine.

Altogether, 12 high-risk persons and four low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 67 people are in isolation wards, including 13 fresh admissions on Monday. Six among them have SARI and seven influenza-like illness.

As many as 434 people, including nine on Monday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 1,668 samples have been collected so far, including 41 on Monday. Out of them, 1,514 samples have turned out to be negative, and 151 reports are awaited. Three people who had tested positive earlier have all recovered and discharged from hospital.

Kasargod

The district which was free of all coronavirus cases, has reported four new cases on Monday. All the four patients had arrived from Mumbai.
