Ahmedabad, Sep 9: Indian para archers will be aiming for multiple medals as the World Archery Para Series Stage III concludes in Ahmedabad, with the country's leading archers competing in gold and bronze medal matches across various events.
In the Para Recurve Mixed Team gold medal match, India's Bhawna and Harvinder Singh are set to face China's Liang Qiurong and Xia Lei. India entered the final after finishing third in qualification with 1,231 points, while China secured fourth place with 1,193 points.
The mixed-team final is among several medal contests involving Indian archers at the Ahmedabad event, which is being held from September 5 to 9.
India has already enjoyed a highly successful campaign. On Tuesday, Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi won gold in the Para Recurve Men's Doubles final, defeating Slovakia 6-2 to claim their third consecutive World Para Archery Series title.
In the Para Compound Men's Doubles, Toman Kumar and Shyam Sunder Swami also secured gold after defeating Iraq's Aldawod Anwer and Kadhim Abbas 152-139.
India also won silver in the Para Women's Recurve Doubles, where Pooja Jatyan and Bhawna Choudhary lost 6-0 to China in the final.
The Indian contingent has also been in contention in the individual events. Sheetal Devi reached the women's compound individual gold medal match, where she faced Kazakhstan's Aizada Seidan. World Archery had listed the contest among the major individual finals of the Ahmedabad stage.
The Ahmedabad competition is particularly significant as India is hosting a World Archery Para Series stage for the first time. The tournament has brought together 109 para archers from 19 countries, competing in recurve, compound, W1 and visually impaired categories.
The event also serves as an important preparation meet ahead of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games, with the continental competition less than 50 days away.
With several Indian archers already securing medals and more medal opportunities on the final day, the Ahmedabad stage has emerged as a major success for the country's para archery contingent.
