Puttur: Mini bus tumbles - 12 passengers heading for marriage injured

Puttur, Feb 17: After a mini bus tumbled by the roadside at Kodyakallu in Shradi village falling within the limits of Uppinangady police station on Sunday February 16, 12 passenger suffered injuries.

The people in the mini bus were from Bage village in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district. They were on their way to attend the marriage function that was arranged at Puttur. It is said that the accident happened after the steering rod of the vehicle snapped.

Vinoda Rai, Sridhar Shetty, Jagannath Shetty, Premalatha, Deelaksha and bus driver Mahesh suffered serious injuries. They were admitted into hospitals at Puttur and Mangaluru. Six others who sustained minor injuries were allowed to go home after providing preliminary treatment at a private hospital in Nelyady.

On the basis of a complaint made by bus passenger Jayanna S hetty, a case satnds registered at Uppinangady police station.

    Passengers must keep quiet in the bus. This school trip, marriage trip, and all they load more than the capacity.

    So drivers won't get control over the bus .Secondly dancing, singing inside the vehicles make disturbance.

    Traffic Police must stop this type of vehicle and check regularly. They check only after any untoward things happen. If Police are strict, one can reduce the accident.

    I am certainly convinced now, that these buses carrying marriage celebrants, were intoxicated !! The drivers blood n breath check, must be carried out at the earliest..... Will reveal the cause of these horrendous accidents !!!!
