Bantwal: Thieves target Farangipet Canara Bank branch; hole drilled through roof slab

Bantwal, July 13: A suspected burglary attempt at the Canara Bank branch located at Mineges Plaza in Farangipet, Bantwal taluk, triggered a police investigation on Monday.

Preliminary findings indicate that unidentified persons allegedly attempted to enter the bank by making a hole through the roof slab of a room situated above the branch. The attempted break-in was noticed during a check of the premises.

However, no cash or other valuables have been reported missing from the bank so far. Police officials said further details would be known after a detailed investigation.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Arun Kumar, Bantwal Town Police Inspector Anantha Padmanabha, Bantwal Rural Police Sub-Inspector Manjunath and other police personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

Police have begun an investigation into the suspected burglary bid and are gathering further information to determine the sequence of events.
