Adanis ink concession deal for three airports including Mangaluru

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS): Gujarat-based Adani Enterprise on Friday signed a concession agreement with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for managing three of its airports for 50 years.

The diversified business conglomerate signed the agreement for the Ahmedabad, Mangaluru and Lucknow airports through three airport-specific subsidiaries.

Adani Enterprises was the highest bidder for all the six airports offered by the Centre via the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

While the Union cabinet had earlier approved leasing out of the three airports -- Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangaluru -- to the Adanis, the leasing out of the other three airports - Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram - are currently on hold owing to some pending issues. In case of all the airports, the lease period is 50 years.

Official sources said that the remaining three airports would also be handed over to the Adanis who are foraying into the airport business.

    People are confused here...
    It's only operation.
Nothing is sold.. I am surprised to see here comments like leased sold etc etc.. Govt don't want to run business.. So they are asking private player to run busiess and getting fixed yield.. Most of the country does this.. Example zuric airport, Heathrow etc etc..

I don't know if people have noticed, all the major government institutions are going to or leased to Gujrath based business men. Some of them have stassed money elsewhere and are declaring bankrupt. Some have escaped abroad. Is there any reason why central government is giving all these institutions to people from Gujrath?

In Democracy people choose parties to Govern the nation and provide good services. Seems like here present government is more likely interested to sale government / public properties to one by one .

Airports charges different types of services charges in form of Taxes such as

    Passenger Service Fee
    User Development Fee
    Additional Development fee
    Parking Fee

How comes Airports are run under loss? From Food to All the services are charged 10 times more than normal price.?

Strange thing is labor union or any other unions are not protesting the way they used to protest earlier.

Time for realization and enlightenment. Get ready to shell out your hard earned money every time you use the facility. Not to worry. Similar to till payments on highway, you may get digital tag to be stuck on forehead and the due amount will be deducted every time you move through the gate.
