Bhatkal: Mangaluru-origin boat drowns - Fishermen rescued

Bhatkal, Sep 9: A fishing boat from Mangaluru that was engaged in fishing near Netrani Island about 22 km away from here, rammed into huge boulders and drowned. The incident happened on Sunday September 8. Fishermen from another boat rescued the fishermen of the drowned boat. 

The ill-fated boat named 'Saima - 1' owned by Mohammed Asif from Mangaluru was being driven by a person named Venkatesh when tragedy struck. The boat had ten fishermen in it. All of them are from Andhra Pradesh. 

Immediately after waves rocked the boat resulting in the said accident, fishermen in another boat that was engaged in fishing activity nearby rescued them. They were then sent to Mangaluru in another boat, it is learnt. 

Murudeshwar police station got information about the accident. So far, no official complaint has been lodged.
