Mangaluru lass Wafa Khatheeja Rahman creates waves in Mollywood

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 11: "I do not know Malayalam language, I am from Mangaluru," says innocent Wafa Khatheeja Rahman. The 22-year-old, who never acted in any movie even once, has made waves in the Malayalam movie industry through her stellar performance in the movie 'Padinettampadi', a classic, directed by renowned Malayalam director Shankar Ramakrishnan.

This young damsel, who never put make up for acting before the movie, has acted with the Doyen of Malayalam cinema Mammootty in her first movie. This is the sheer luck of Wafa. Wafa Khatheeja has stolen the hearts of the Malayalam cine goers by her role of college student Angel in the movie 'Padinettampadi', in which well-known actors like Prithviraj, Priyamani and Sooraj Venjaramood have acted.

Wafa Khatheeja Rahman is the granddaughter of M B Abdul Rahman, who was a renowned lawyer and former president of Byari Sahitya Academy. Her father Abdul Khader, a resident of Bayar of Kasargod district in Kerala, is an hotelier in Thiruvananthapuram. Mother Shahida is a homemaker. Wafa Khatheeja is trolling in the footsteps of her renowned grandfather M B Abdul Rahman. She is studying LLB in the National University of Legal Studies in Thiruvananthapuram. She is also a social-thinking oriented person.

Wafa, who did not have any clue of acting, had gone for the screen test called by Shankar Ramakrishnan for the movie, owing to the pressure of actress Ahana, who is Wafa's childhood friend. She got through in the first round miraculously. Wafa, who is very studious, says that she was literally shivering when she faced the camera for the first time. Wafa says, "I get excited when I think of that moment."

When director Shankar Ramakrishnan instilled confidence in her by saying to act as if there is no camera in front of her, she got through the initial nervousness.

Acting is a boon that has come into the life of Wafa, who has completed her primary and secondary education in Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala state. It is also quite a co-incident that she got the role which she used to dream. Her role is of a student who fights against the drug menace. Wafa, who got inspired by the blood donation camps organized by her grandfather M B Abdul Rahman, used to organize blood donation camps in her college. She is also a regular donor of blood.

Wafa Khatheeja has done excellent acting in her first movie itself. It is unforgettable that she got the chance to act with renowned actor of Malayalam cinema Mammootty. Wafa, who has reached the 18th or the top most step from the movie (Padinettampadi) by the same name, has got wide acclaim from the people of God's Own Country.

Wafa Khatheeja loves social service along with her study of Law. She says that she will surely act in Kannada, if an opportunity comes by. Right now she is blowing her cool, aromatic fragrance in Mollywood.

Glamour world, be it Bollywood, Mollywood or Holiwood, no decent family of any faith would desire to have their daughters a career in Cinema fields unless you have your own father or brother working in the same field thereby exploitation could be minimum or none.

Reason is simple. It is full of filth and dirt, chances of loosing the morality of a girl is very high, no matter how best the girl was raised.

I know many will comment against my thoughts and perception. It is fine.
