Udupi: Net, red flags warn visitors against venturing into sea at Malpe Beach

Malpe, Jun 14: With the sea turning rough in the coastal districts, Malpe Beach Authority has put up nets and red flags along the Malpe Beach stretch to stop tourists from entering the sea.

The 7 feet high net covers a stretch of 1 kilometer and 40 flags are placed at different locations as a warning to tourists.

The net and red flags will be removed in September first week, depending on the monsoons and after the turbulence in the sea settles.

The Authority has requested tourists to strictly follow the rules and not venture into the sea, until red flags are replaced with the yellow.
Around 8 huts which were stationed on the beach were uninstalled and will be constructed after the monsoons.

On June 8, a tourist identified as Masood Pasha from Bhadravati faced the risk of getting washed away by the waves. He was saved by the lifeguards.
