Puttur, Sep 5: Two personnel from Puttur Rural police station were allegedly abused and assaulted after they intervened to stop a man from allegedly attacking his wife at Mundaje in Padnur village on the night of September 4.

Head constable Madhu and CPC Bhimana Gowda M Biradar were on duty in a Hoysala patrol vehicle when they received a complaint and proceeded to Mundaje in Padnur village.

On reaching the spot, a woman told the police that her husband had assaulted her. When the personnel questioned her husband, identified as Naveen, he allegedly lost his temper and attempted to assault his wife again.

When the police personnel stepped in to prevent the attack, Naveen, along with his mother and brother, allegedly abused and assaulted them and obstructed them from discharging their government duties.
