Bengaluru: We will support Rahul Gandhi, says JD (S) supremo Deve Gowda

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, May 19: "We will stand with Congress irrespective of the outcome of the Lok Sabha election result. Our support will be for Rahul Gandhi to become the prime minister," stated former prime minister and supremo of JD (S) H D Deve Gowda.

Speaking to the scribes, Deve Gowda further said, "Neither BJP nor Congress will get a clear mandate in the centre. The national party will form the government with the support of regional parties. We have made alliance with the Congress before the Lok Sabha elections. So we will be with the Congress party and support Rahul Gandhi to become the prime minister."

"BJP will not regain power once again. Once the results are declared, all like-minded, non-BJP parties will sit together, discuss and take a consensual decision," added Deve Gowda.

Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the alliance of Congress and JD (S) will secure 18 to 19 seats in Karnataka.

Former prime minister Deve Gowda visited Lord Venkateshwara temple on Saturday on the occasion of his 87th birthday. Many eminent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and DCM Dr G Parameshwar extended their greeting to the JD (S) supremo.
