Brahmavar, Sep 28: An elderly woman was allegedly abandoned by her son at an unknown location in Brahmavar, leaving her distressed and helpless.

The incident came to light when school bus driver Ramanath Shenoy noticed an elderly woman wandering helplessly near SMS English Medium School in Brahmavar. He subsequently informed social worker Nityananda Olakadu about the matter.

Responding immediately, Nityananda Olakadu, with the assistance of personnel from the 112 emergency police helpline, admitted the woman to the District Hospital at Ajjarkad in Udupi.

During the admission process, the woman identified herself as Saraswathi (70), and stated that she was a resident of Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. She reportedly told the authorities that her son had brought her in a car and abandoned her at an unfamiliar location before leaving.

Nityananda Olakadu has orally informed the women’s police station and the Senior Citizens Helpline about the incident.
