Udupi, Mar 13: The family members of fishermen who are missing along with the boat Suvarna Tribhuja have decided not to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections accusing the government of not taking the case of the missing boat seriously.

88 days have elapsed since the missing of Suvarna Tribhuja boat in deep sea, along with seven fishermen in it. The family members expressed their unhappiness saying that except the people's representatives, who have visited their homes, both the state and central governments did not give any update with regard to the issue.

The district police team, coast guard and Navy carried out the search operation for the first two months but now they have given up the search operation as they could not find any clue leading to the missing boat or men. They have approached Nirmala Sitharaman, defence minister, to unearth the mystery.

Two weeks ago, a team, under the leadership of fishermen’s association met the defence minister in Bengaluru and sought help in searching the missing boat. The family members are waiting for the defence minister to arrive at Malpe to discuss the issue with the naval officers as per the assurance given by her during the meeting at Bengaluru.

Parents of missing fishermen Chandrashekhar Kotian and Damodar Salian are wailing even now remembering their sons. The other family members are still awaiting the arrival of their dear ones.
