Hingoli, Oct 29: Six police personnel were injured after a mob allegedly attacked a police team that had arrived at Palshi village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district to arrest a burglary suspect early Thursday, officials said.

The incident occurred around 2 am when a team from the Latur Local Crime Branch, led by Assistant Police Inspector Pandurang Mane, reached the village to apprehend a suspect allegedly involved in a burglary case registered in Latur district.

According to police, nine persons allegedly attacked the team with wooden sticks and iron rods after learning that the personnel had arrived to take the suspect into custody. The attackers fled the scene following the assault.

Personnel from the nearby Hatta police station rushed to the village after the incident and shifted the injured policemen to a primary health centre. After receiving preliminary treatment, the team returned to Latur.

The Hatta police have registered a case against nine persons, including Sudarshan Shinde, Raju Shinde, Vicky Shinde and Sachin Shinde, for allegedly obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties.
