Abu Dhabi: Former KCO member Joyce Rego passes away, a day after 60th birthday

Abu Dhabi, Dec 4: Joyce Rego, wife of Rotarian Robert Rego, of Rego compound, Bajpe, passed away at 7 pm on Tuesday December 4 in Abu Dhabi. She died of cardiac arrest just a day after her 60th birthday on December 3.

Both Joyce and her husband Robert Rego have been known to be very active Mangalurean couple in Abu Dhabi's St Joseph’s Cathedral, devoted towards spending most of their free time off duty at the church community service and engaging in social activities.

Joyce for a long term was the co-ordinator of Catechism in the Cathedral and was the secretary of the Christmas festival committee, a Eucharistic minister and was well-known and loved by all across communities.

Joyce was also actively involved in the Konkani community services and was a member of Abu Dhabi’s premiere Konkani organisation KCO (Konkani Cultural Organisation) of which her husband was past president.

She leaves behind her husband Robert Rego and sons Jonathan, Joel and Joshua.

    Dear Josh, Joel, Jonathon and Uncle Robert. Before I knew you all, I knew her. A loving lady down the catechism hallway. A person Ive known since I was in grade 2. She is a sweetheart for sure. Hearing this was never even expected in my dreams. I still cannot believe this tragedy. Please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences. This is a phase of life, the only thing promised to us by birth. She fought it. She really fought. Please don't be discouraged. God will grant her eternal peace. Although she has left the world, she has been born in heaven and will live with God. She will not like to see her family in tears. Wishing you hope in the midst of sorrow and comfort in the midst of pain. If I were able to, I would have come and it kills me not to be present there. Those we love can never be more than a thought away, for as a memory they'll stay. My sympathy...

    It is truly very sad and shocking news. The untimely passing away of our dear Joyce is huge loss not only to you, family but to all of her friends and Community in general
    But she has left great memories. Her life was full of Christian Teachings , CARING and GIVING. She SERVED the LORD , practically EVERYDAY at church , and her contribution for Catechism, First Communion, Confirmation , preparation and Liturgy was unprecedented and total.
    Similarly she gave whole hearted support for all activities of KCO, India Social and Cultural Center and Karnataka Sangha etc.
    I had the privilege of closely working with her in various activities at St Josephs Cathedral Church , particularly the Christmas Festival. SHE HAD THE DISTINCTION OF SERVING MEMBER OF ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR 30 YEARS UNINTERRUPTED, many years as General Secretary.
    She was close family friend too and we will miss her always.
    Joyce Lived a life , which can be EXAMPLE to others and family can be very very Proud of her
