Kundapur, Nov 9: Grade - I secretary of Vaddarse gram panchayat, Umashankar, has filed a police complaint under Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act, blaming the higher officers of harassing him and blocking his promotion since the last ten years by hoisting false case against him.

He has named his higher-ups, Vishwanath Poojary, Pranesh Rao, Rajendra Bekal and Ramdas, who he says, have misused their powers, ill-treated and harassed him. He says that when he was the secretary of Gujjady gram panchayat in the year 2007, his higher officials had created a fake report of irregularities in the annual account, resulting in his suspension from service.

"The lacunae found in the annual accounts pertained to the erstwhile secretary. No legal action was taken against the then secretary. Instead, he was promoted, I was fixed in a false case and my promotion has been withheld since a decade," he explained.

Gangolli police, who have registered this case under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, have begun investigation.
