Mangaluru, Jul 1: The Citizens Council, Mangaluru Chapter, will be organising a talk on "Emergency 1975: Democracy Derailed”, to be delivered by renowned author and columnist Dr Ratan Sharda. The programme will be held on Friday, July 4 at 5:30 pm at the TV Raman Pai Convention Centre, Kodialbail, Mangaluru.
Through this session, Dr Ratan Sharda will provide an insightful narrative on the political, social, and constitutional impacts of the Emergency, exploring how it reshaped Indian democracy and left a lasting legacy on the nation.

Dr Ratan Sharda is a noted author, commentator, and public intellectual known for his extensive writings on Indian politics, culture, and national issues. He has authored multiple books, appears regularly on television debates, and is widely respected for his balanced yet firm views on democracy and governance. His talk is expected to offer both historical context and contemporary relevance, especially for youth, civil society members, and academicians.
